Interim Chief Executive Officer (ICEO)

Responsible for directing the overall operation of the hospital/healthcare entity. Establishes strategic plans and guides their implementation. Guides changes needed to reach financial goals. Selects and directs executive staff. Provides leadership and support to the Board of Directors. Represents the organization to major external authorities and constituencies. Reports to the Board of Directors.

The ICEO Senior Advisor will serve as an interim for the overall management of the Hospital operations. Basic Qualifications:

Interim Chief Financial Officer (ICFO)

Under the direction of the CEO, the ICFO plans, organizes, and directs all activities related to financial management, including financial planning, budgeting, accounting systems and controls, patient financial services, reimbursement, external financing and treasury and investment. The ICFO may also oversee information systems, materials management and/or managed care contracting. The ideal candidate will have a CPA and/or MBA, and previous experience as a financial executive in the healthcare industry. Prior consulting experience in a project or interim capacity is a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the accounting and finance functions with responsibilities including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, operational reporting, revenue management for billing and accounts receivable, audits, general fiduciary responsibilities for accounting operations, internal      control structures, facilities and contract management in an entrepreneurial and growth-focused environment
  • At times will have responsibility for human resources, information technology and other corporate functions.
  • Develop and direct all funding proposals and agreements; monitors financial indicators to support decision-making.
  • Meet reporting requirements for all funding and contracting bodies.
  • Oversee General Ledger functions; assure accuracy timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices.

  • Minimum of fifteen years’ experience, with at least five in a senior financial      leadership position in the healthcare industry.
  • Substantial experience in the for-profit healthcare services industry is a must.  Working with private equity held businesses a plus.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with health insurers
  • Deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycle and revenue recognition process.
  • Experience in working with financial sponsors – lenders and equity – and related reporting and communications
  • Ability to foster a strong, cohesive working team. Providing hands-on support and strong delegation and leadership skills
  • Strong finance related software skills and ERP systems

Interim Chief Nursing Officer (ICNO)

Reporting to the CEO/COO, the ICNO directs nursing care activities within defined hospital policies, strategic objectives and in concert with the mission and values of the hospital. Ensures hospital polices for patient care and nursing care meet expected standards of care for safe high quality care delivery. Interim Chief Compliance Officer (ICCO)

The ICCO oversees the Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position ensures the Board of Directors, management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company’s Standards of Conduct. 
The ICCO acts as staff to the CEO and Board of Trustees’ Corporate Compliance Committee by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the company and in providing guidance for the Board and senior management team on matters relating to compliance. The ICCO, together with the Corporate Compliance Committee, is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the Program.
  • Develops and reviews Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency in providing guidance to management and employees.

  • Ensures proper reporting of violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the Compliance Hotline; (b) heightened awareness of Standards of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s desired.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a healthcare organization, to include demonstrated leadership and progressive responsibilities in areas of corporate compliance.

Interim Human Resources Director (IHRC)

The IHRD is responsible for managing employee relations, communication, training and development, compensation, recruitment, staff planning, performance management, worker’s compensation, and all other HR functional areas.  The IHRD will generally directly report to the CEO. Interim Controller (ICON)

The Interim Controller (ICON) should be capable of assuming responsibility for all aspects of the accounting operations, financial reporting and tax compliance. This position works with Senior Management and Department Heads to provide development, guidance, direction and analysis of budgets and forecasts, to provide timely and relevant information to reinforce the strategy as outlined in the budget. Interim Reimbursement Business Specialist (IRBS)

The Interim Reimbursement Business Specialist is responsible for monitoring in-patient, out-patient, ancillary or physician services through the analysis of reimbursement methodologies (DRG’s, Medicare/Medicaid, Managed Care, per diem, etc.) and operational data for the purpose of identifying any potential clinical and/or reimbursement impact on the client. This position serves a variety of functions designed to obtain maximum efficiency in the gathering and reporting of information in order to evaluate and refine reimbursement methodology activities. It requires extensive contact with other departments, and their department heads, to ensure that objectives as they relate to reimbursement are met; that activities and problem areas are corrected; and opportunities to maximize reimbursement rates are addressed. Normally, the IRBS will report directly to the CFO or Controller.

  • Serves as the liaison between all Department and Medical Staff in gathering and disseminating information to appropriate personnel pertinent to case mix, reimbursement report analysis, and regulatory impact to their operations.
  • Develops, maintains and utilizes a case mix/reimbursement methodology database to substantiate projections.
  • Applies third party methodologies to the reimbursement database in order to analyze profitability of the various methodologies, including in-patient and outpatient revenues by various payors.
  • Gathers, compiles and analyzes case mix data in order to establish operational and reimbursement trends.
  • Calculates, reviews, and monitors reimbursement methodology payment rates.
  • Evaluates the impact of revisions to existing reimbursement payment methodology on the operational and revenue goals of the Department.
  • Develops, compiles and analyzes various reports related to the various reimbursement methodologies and other reimbursement activities.
  • Works with clinical staff in the development phase of specialty clinics/programs to develop and implement information reporting procedures necessary to maximize applicable reimbursement rates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience working with reimbursement methodologies (DRG’s, managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) for a third party payor, healthcare consulting firm, or in a hospital department of reimbursement, Patient Accounts or Accounting.
  • A Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Health / Hospital Administration is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital administration; good knowledge of reimbursement methodologies, including Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG’s) as they relate to hospital costs and expenditures.
  • Good knowledge of Medicare Prospective Payment System.
  • Familiarity with the operational organization of a large hospital and its various divisions; ability to identify and compile information used to prepare financial, statistical and narrative reports.
  • Ability to perform analytical reviews of rates and adjustments to ascertain their implications for hospital management.
