Interim Patient Financial Services Director (IPFSD)

The IPFSD assists healthcare clients to improve revenue management processes, reduce denials and bad debt, and improve cash flow and net revenue as either a consultant or an interim leader. Our clients range from large national health systems and small community hospitals, to specialty providers and physician practice groups. Clients can include entities in financial distress who find themselves in a turnaround situation, entities on solid financial ground who want to improve their customer service image and their financial standing, and entities who are already high performers that desire to achieve best practice status.

The Revenue Management Team’s areas of expertise include patient scheduling, patient access, health information management, coding, stay management, charge capture, patient accounting, information systems, project management, and education and training.

Interim Revenue Cycle Consultants serve as industry experts while they implement best practices at our client locations. Consultants combine their leadership, experience and understanding of Revenue cycle solutions to Revenue Cycle Projects.

Required Skills

  • MS Office including MS Word and Excel required, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred
  • Experience and comfort working at all levels of a health care organization
  • Ability to probe, analyze, synthesize and articulate complex subject matter so it can be easily understood
  • Ability to construct revenue specific metrics and best practice comparative information to evaluate operating status of internal revenue processes
  • A high degree of self-motivation, versatility and flexibility
  • In-depth knowledge of the complete healthcare revenue cycle
  • Working knowledge of hospital based IT systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and executive presence
  • Ability to lead, direct and motivate others; ability to influence others at all levels (staff to executive)
  • Ability to build effective team in order to accomplish goals
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the healthcare revenue cycle required
  • Experience analyzing hospital patient access activity and communicating trends based on analysis
  • MS Office including MS Word and Excel required, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred
  • Experience and comfort working at all levels of a health care organization

Experience with progressive management of all phases of revenue, including admitting, medical records, billing, follow-up, cash posting, and IT
