Spectrum Health Partners Welcomes Three New Principals

Spectrum Health Partners announces the addition of three new Principals, David Lundquist, John Winenger and Michael Caruso.

David Lundquist, MBA, is an accomplished and solutions-focused senior executive and advisor with 35 years in the healthcare industry within both for-profit and not-for-profit environments. He is skilled in developing strategic vision and achieving turnaround results following periods of stagnant or declining performance. He specializes in strategic planning, change management, business development, project and program management, process improvements, cross-functional team building and leadership.

Lundquist most recently was President/CEO of Rome Memorial Hospital and its affiliates in Rome, New York. Throughout his career he has held leadership positions at medical and health care organizations in Oklahoma, New Jersey and New York.

John Winenger, MBA, FACHE, a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, has more than 30 years of experience as a CEO, director, project manager and strategist for healthcare organizations including hospitals, health systems and physician groups. He specializes in reducing costs and improving performance at distressed institutions as well as recruiting, mentoring and building high-performance teams focused on continuous quality improvement.

Winenger was most recently a principal strategist and interim executive with Interim Executive Solutions, LLC, of Indianapolis, Indiana, a post he held from 2014. Prior to that, he served in a number of high-level positions from 1997 through 2014 at hospitals within the St. Vincent Health – Ascension Health system of Indianapolis.

Michael Caruso, MBA, FACHE, has nearly 40 years of direct experience as a healthcare executive and consultant, with deep understanding of practical, financial, operational and team-based strategies to drive sustained success.

Caruso is also a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. He most recently served as a Managing Director with Healthcare Turnaround and Restructuring Group of Wheeling, W.Va., a post he held since 2017.

Prior to that position, Caruso served as President and CEO of the Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corporation of Wheeling, W.Va., an integrated healthcare delivery system with 300 beds, 1,600 employees and 300 medical staff members.

Other roles Caruso has had include Executive Director for United Physicians Care, Inc., a division of West Virginia United Systems, now West Virginia University Medicine, that specializes in the alignment of medical practices and physician services, and Vice President and Assistant Administrator of Wheeling Hospital, a 259-bed acute care facility.
